 8.31.2011 - Firm recognized in ASB Addendum



    In its August 2011 issue, Alabama State Bar's Addendum recognized Simpson, McMahan, Glick & Burford for hosting "Lunch with an American General Counsel" in June. The article credits Scott Simpson and Charles (Bo) Cole as being "integral in the creation and development of Samford University's Master of Comparative Law (MCL) program, which was formally established in 1993.

 6.24.2011 - Lunch with an American General Counsel



    On June 15, 2011, Simpson, McMahan, Glick & Burford was proud to host "Lunch with an American General Counsel". Dan Batchelor, general counsel for Clayton Homes, a Berkshire-Hathaway company, spoke to a prominent group of Brazilian judges and attorneys on issues including the American legal system and the current state of the modular homes market. Included in the audience was Brazilian Justice Cristina Zucchi, an appellate judge in São Paulo, Brazil. The Brazilian judges and attorneys are visiting Birmingham to attend advanced training courses toward degrees in Masters of Comparative Law at Cumberland School of Law.  6.20.2011 - Scott Simpson recognized in BBA Bulletin

    In its Summer 2011 bulletin, the Birmingham Bar Association's ADR Section recognized Scott Simpson for his contribution to the ADR Symposium hosted by Cumberland School of Law on April 8, 2011. Scott was a contributing panelist in a discussion entitled "Ethical Issues in Arbitration", which included other notable panelists Oscar Price, III, Bill Hasty, John Scott, and Professor Henry Strickland. The Symposium was sponsored by the BBA's ADR Section, Alabama State Bar Dispute Resolution Section, and Cumberland School of Law. The ADR Section's second CLE is planned for September 8th, 2011.
